Anne Arundel County Full Scale Exercise - Anne Arundel County
Sunday, March 14, 2010
Anne Arundel County's Office of Emergency Management, Fire Department, Police Department and the MTA along with the Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC) participated in a joint full-scale exercise on March 14, 2010. This exercise gave each agency an opportunity to test plans for a mass casualty incident. Capabilities tested were On-site Incident Management, Public Safety and Security Response, Triage and Pre-Hospital Treatment, Medical Surge, Emergency Public Information and Warning and Explosive Device Response. Nearly 200 volunteers participated in roles such as victims, family members of victims and as exercise staff assisting in the logistics of the exercise itself. Some were moulaged to look as thought they had been hurt in an explosion and others had internal injuries. The scenario included a suicide bomber on a light rail train on its way to a Ravens football game. Injured passengers were triaged on the train and then transported to the hospital. Eighty four victims were taken to BWMC to be treated. MIEMSS provided moulage services as well as photography and video of the exercise.
